Businessweek quotes Harry Glorikian in "The Race for Diagnostic Tests for Alzheimer's"

The race is on to create a diagnostic test for Alzheimer's disease which would enable patients to start drug treatments earlier, participate in clinical trials for experimental medicines, and plan for their futures. General Electric, Bayer, and Avid Radiopharmaceuticals are all developing new diagnostic dyes for a market that could be worth $3 billion a year; with Avid aiming to submit an FDA application before yearend. "When you're running a marathon, it's hard to come from behind unless you're superior," says Harry Glorikian.
